DIY Christmas Mason Jar Gift Idea
I definitely caught the Mason Jar bug. They can be used in so many ways. I like to use them for storing oats, nuts and other pantry items. The small versions work well for carrying your favorite salad dressing. Pop it out, shake and apply.
I have also found mason jars are great for either holding candles or making candles. By placing a candle inside a mason jar and wrapping it with a ribbon you create a fun decorative atmosphere. Plus, you get added safety by catching the wax and making a stable base.
I really like giving homemade gifts. They are much more budget friendly and can, in many cases, mean more to the person receiving it.
Last year I made cookies and banana muffins and packaged them in a food box, then wrapped them. This year I am going to use Christmas Mason Jar Gift Idea for fast and easy results. Once I’m done giving my mason jar a makeover I’m going to fill it with the Homemade Granola Recipe (link) and layer it with chocolate chips
Let’s Start the DIY Christmas Mason Jar Gift Idea
Supplies Used In This Project:
- Ball Smooth Jar Quart Size
- Wired Ribbon 1 1/2 inch
- 1 ‘Bird Pine Cone Pick’ (I found these at Michael’s. The price was $0.60)
- 1 ‘Pine Stem Snow Pick’ (I found these at Michael’s. The price was $0.60)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Glue Sticks
- Paper plate (to place your hot glue gun on)
- Homemade Granola Recipe (The recipe will fill 3-quart size jars)
- Chocolate Chips (This is optional. You could use dried cranberries )
I bent the wires up on the ‘Bird Pine Cone Pick.’
Measure ribbon to fit around mason jar. Leave about 1/2 inch extra.
Fold ribbon so it matches the other end. Apply a strip of hot glue to the center and place ribbon around mason jar.
Hot glue the ‘Bird Pine Cone Pick’ and ‘Pine Stem Snow Pick’ to the jar. Hold for about 20 seconds. (Be careful not to burn yourself!)
Let’s make a bow. My tip for making a bow is to tie the bow and pull the loops tight. Then fluff out the loop.
My Aunt taught me how to make a French tip. Fold the tip of your ribbon in half then take your scissors and french it.
Add hot glue to the bow and place on the Mason jar.
Fill with homemade granola and layer with chocolate chips or dried cranberries. Once the granola has been enjoyed the Mason jar can be used as a centerpiece.
